Frequently asked questions

Before you order

How much does a marriage certificate translation cost?+

For translations from Norwegian into English, prices start at NOK 990 for page 1 of a standard marriage certificate. Other language pairs, additional pages and attachments are priced separately. You’ll always see the price or receive a quote before confirming your order.

How long does it take to translate my marriage certificate?+

Many standard marriage certificates can be delivered within around 3 business days. Express service may be available if you need it sooner.

Do you also translate certificates of no impediment?+

Yes. We translate marriage certificates, certificates of no impediment and other documents relating to marriage and civil status.

Do I need a certified or government-authorised translation?+

Our document translations are certified with a signature and company stamp from Language Power International AS. If the receiving organisation specifically requires the translation to be completed by a government-authorised translator, you need to let us know before ordering. Availability depends on the language pair.

Does my marriage certificate need an Apostille?+

It depends on where the document was issued, which country it will be used in and the requirements of the receiving organisation. An Apostille confirms the authenticity of a public document and is separate from the translation itself. If the recipient requires an Apostille or another form of legalisation, we can assess how this should be handled as part of your order, however translations into Norwegian generally does not need an Apostille.

Can I use the translation for UDI?+

Marriage certificates and certificates of no impediment are often translated for use in cases involving UDI, the Norwegian Tax Administration and other public authorities. The exact documentation requirements depend on the individual case. If UDI or another organisation has given you specific requirements, include them when you place your order.

Do I need to send the original?+

For the translation itself, a clear scan, PDF or good-quality photo is usually enough. Some receiving organisations may require the translation to be attached to the original document or may have other specific requirements. If so, include these details when you order.
