Frequently asked questions
Find answers to common questions about document translation and ordering from Language Power.
How much does a translation cost?+
The price depends on factors such as the language pair, scope and complexity. For selected documents, we can show a fixed price immediately. For other projects, you’ll receive a no-obligation quote before deciding whether to proceed.
How long does a translation take?+
Many document translations can be delivered within 1-3 business days. Larger or more complex projects may require additional time. You’ll receive an expected delivery time before confirming your order.
Which languages do you translate?+
We translate to and from most European languages as well as many other international languages. Frequently requested languages include Norwegian, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Ukrainian. Choose your required language pair when ordering, or upload your document if you are unsure whether we cover the combination you need.
Do I need a certified, authorised or government-authorised translation?+
The terms certified, authorised, official and approved translation are often used to describe translations intended for formal purposes. Our document translations are certified with our signature and company stamp. If the recipient specifically requires the translation to be completed by a government-authorised translator, we can provide this where the service is available for the relevant language pair. If you are unsure what the recipient requires, you can check with them directly or tell us what the translation will be used for when placing your order.
Is it safe to upload my documents?+
Yes. Your document is uploaded directly through our secure ordering system rather than being sent as an unprotected email attachment. Access is limited to authorised personnel handling your request, and all documents are treated confidentially. Access to uploaded documents and completed translations is provided through secure, time-limited links.
What are Notary public and Apostille, and when do I need them?+
Notarisation may be required when a recipient needs an official confirmation relating to the translation or document. An apostille may then be used in certain countries to authenticate the notarial certification. The exact requirements depend on the country, recipient, original document and language pair. Where we can assist with these services, the relevant options will be shown or confirmed during the ordering process.
Can I get an express translation?+
Yes. Express translation is available for many projects when capacity allows. If your translation is urgent, you can select express service where available or tell us your required delivery date when uploading the document. We always confirm the delivery time before the order proceeds.
How will I receive the completed translation?+
When the translation is ready, we’ll notify you by email and provide secure access to the completed document through your order page. You can also track the status of your order and communicate with us from the same place throughout the process. If physical originals are being handled as part of your order, they can either be collected from our office in Oslo or returned by post.
I can’t take a photo of the document on my phone. What should I do?+
If the camera does not open correctly, or the image appears black, check that your browser has permission to access the camera. On iPhone: go to Settings → Chrome/Safari → Camera On Android: go to Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions → Camera Then try again in your browser. If it still does not work, you can take a photo using your phone’s regular camera app and then upload the image from your photo library.
